Boost for Bilateral Cooperation as PS Mbugua Meets Indian High Commission Delegation
Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, earlier today hosted a delegation from the High Commission of India in Nairobi, led by Mr. Amardeep Kumar, who paid him a courtesy call at his Works Building office.
The delegation expressed keen interest in exploring partnerships in marine infrastructure, solar energy, and construction, underscoring India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Kenya in critical development sectors.
Eng. Mbugua encouraged the team to establish a presence in Kenya by setting up an office and actively participating in key government projects. He highlighted opportunities in road development, the Affordable Housing Programme, and flagship infrastructure initiatives, including the 60,000-capacity stadium currently under construction.
He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to expanding Kenya’s road network, noting that 2,500 km of roads are in the pipeline for delivery, with an ambitious target to construct 10,000 km over the next decade.
Mr. Kumar was accompanied by representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Mohan Mutha Exports. The Chief Engineer for Roads, Eng James Kung'u , also attended the meeting.
