Government Moves to Secure and Accelerate Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP)
Nairobi: Efforts to fast-track construction of the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) along the Isiolo–Mandera Regional Road Corridor have gained fresh momentum following a high-level security and development engagement convened on Thursday evening.
The meeting brought together Cabinet Secretaries Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior), and Soipan Tuya (Defence), alongside Principal Secretaries Eng. Joseph Mbugua (roads) and Dr. Patrick Mariru (Defence), building on outcomes of an earlier multi-agency consultation held this week.
Discussions centred on the rollout of a newly enhanced security management plan to safeguard the project corridor while supporting sustainable development across the region.
Also in attendance were Deputy Inspector General (APS) Gilbert Masengeli, Principal Administrative Secretary for Internal Security Jacob Narengo, and the General Officer Commanding Eastern Command, Major General Luka Kutto, among other senior officials.
