PRESIDENT RUTO LAUNCHES KSH 4.89 BILLION ROAD PROJECTS TO TRANSFORM NAKURU CONNECTIVITY
Nakuru, Wednesday, 29th October 2025 — H.E. President William Ruto on Wednesday launched a series of transformative road projects in Nakuru County worth a combined KSh 4.89 billion, signalling a major push to unlock economic opportunities and boost regional connectivity.
The President was flanked by Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Davis Chirchir, and Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, alongside national and county leaders, underscoring the government’s commitment to turning strategic infrastructure into tangible growth.
The flagship Kasarani–Kongoni–Olkaria and Ndabibi Access Roads, a KSh 3.7 billion project spanning 42 kilometres, will upgrade gravel and earth roads to bitumen standard, complete with pavements, modern signage, guardrails, kerbs, and robust drainage systems. The roads will improve access to markets, schools, social amenities, and key tourism sites around the geothermal-rich Olkaria area.
Earlier in his Rift Valley tour, President Ruto also inspected the Jogoo–Kiptangwanyi–Munanda–Tangi Tano / Munanda–Kiambogo–Kongasis roads, a KSh 1.19 billion, 25-kilometre project currently 29.7% complete. The upgrade will open up agriculturally rich areas, cut travel time, improve market access, and boost local trade.
“These projects are central to our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” President Ruto said. “We are building durable, all-weather roads that connect communities, expand markets, and power inclusive growth.”
Implemented by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), the projects are already underway with surveys, material testing, and groundwork in progress. Officials stressed that these initiatives reflect the government’s broader strategy to use infrastructure as a catalyst for trade, agriculture, and tourism, bridging opportunity gaps across the county.
Present at the launch were Cabinet Secretary Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior and National Administration), Nakuru Governor Hon. Susan Kihika, and Principal Secretaries Prof. Julius Bitok (Basic Education) and Hon. Nixon Korir (Lands and Physical Planning).
With nearly KSh 5 billion invested, these roads are set to reshape connectivity, unlock economic potential, and strengthen the county’s role as a gateway for trade and tourism in the Rift Valley.
