President Ruto Launches Major Infrastructure Projects to Boost Connectivity and Trade in Makueni County
Wednesday, 12th November, 2025: The government is accelerating infrastructure development to meet Kenyans’ immediate needs, unlock rural economic potential, and drive inclusive growth.
Today, H.E. President William Ruto, flanked by Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, and national and county leaders, commissioned the Kasikeu and Mikuyuni Bridges and their approach roads in Makueni County.
“These projects will enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and open up new opportunities for trade, agriculture, and access to essential services,” the President said.
Later, the President, launched the construction of the 20-kilometre Emali–Matiliku Road, part of the 42-kilometre Emali–Ukia Road in Ndundune. The KSh 1.1 billion project will link key trading centres including Kativani, Manywani, Matiliku, Kalamba, Nziu, and Ukia, connecting them onward to Wote town, Kajiado, Nairobi, and Mombasa.
Once complete, the road will cut transport costs, expand trade in perishable goods and livestock, and enable farmers to reach markets faster, reducing post-harvest losses and boosting incomes.
