Kenya Deepens AfDB Collaboration to Fast-Track Integrated Transport Infrastructure

Earlier today, Principal Secretary, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, hosted a high-level Transport Sector Dialogue Mission led by African Development Bank Group, Executive Director Tomoki Nakai, at the Works Building on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary, Davis Chirchir.

The discussions focused on advancing integrated and intermodal transport systems, strengthening the regional railway network including the Standard Gauge Railway, prioritizing sovereign operations and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) investments, and enhancing road maintenance funding and resource mobilization.
The leaders reaffirmed the strong partnership between Kenya and the Bank, and a shared commitment to delivering sustainable, efficient, and transformative transport infrastructure aligned with national development priorities.

The meeting brought together key sector leaders, including Principal Secretary for Aviation, Teresia Mbaika, Ag. Chief Engineer for Roads, Eng. Nicholas Musuni, Director for Infrastructure and Urban Development, Mike Salawou, senior Bank officials and representatives from Kenya National Highways Authority and Kenya Railways Corporation.
