President Ruto Launches Key Road Projects to Transform Connectivity in Machakos County
Machakos County: Friday 14th November, 2025  — H.E. President William Samoei Ruto on Friday launched two major road projects in Machakos County, signaling a new phase in the government’s push to expand rural infrastructure and strengthen regional trade links.
The first, the Kivandini–Museleni Road, is set for a major upgrade at a cost of KSh 1.25 billion. Once completed by October 2027, the bitumen-standard road will ease the movement of agricultural produce, reduce post-harvest losses, improve access to schools and health facilities, and enhance trade between Kivandini, Museleni, and neighboring counties. Residents hailed the project as a boost to livelihoods and local opportunities.
During the third day of his Lower Eastern development tour, President Ruto also launched the Kangundo–Mwala (B63) Road Project, starting with the 13-kilometre Kangundo–Kivaani section. The new corridor will connect key highways, including the B105 and B106 leading to the Thika–Garissa (A3) highway and the Makutano–Mwala–Kitui–Machakos (B62) route, facilitating the movement of goods and services across Machakos County and beyond.
H.E. President Ruto underscored that the projects form part of the government’s vision for a seamlessly connected Kenya, where modern infrastructure unlocks economic opportunities and improves the quality of life for citizens
Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Davis Chirchir, Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, and other national and county leaders joined the President during the launch.
