PRESIDENT RUTO LAUNCHES KSH3.7 BILLION ROAD UPGRADE TO TRANSFORM NAKURU COUNTY CONNECTIVITY
Nakuru, Wednesday 29th October, 2025 — Later, H.E President William Ruto launched the upgrade of the Kasarani–Kongoni–Olkaria and Ndabibi Access Roads in Nakuru County, a Sh3.7 billion infrastructure project set to open new economic frontiers and boost regional connectivity.
He was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, alongside national and county leaders.
The 42-kilometre project, fully funded by the Government of Kenya, will upgrade gravel and earth roads to bitumen standard, complete with new pavements, improved drainage, erosion control measures, and modern road furniture including signage, guardrails, and kerbs.
“Today marks a key milestone in our resolve to connect every part of Kenya with reliable road networks,” said President Ruto, noting that the project will ease access to markets, social amenities, and key tourism sites around the geothermal-rich Olkaria area.
The project is being implemented under the supervision of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), with the contractor already on-site conducting surveys and material testing. The project is expected to be completed in April 2028.
This investment underscores the government’s push to use infrastructure as a cornerstone for trade, agriculture, and tourism, reinforcing President Ruto’s vision of seamless national connectivity under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Present were Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretaries Hon. Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport), Hon. Lee Kinyanjui (Trade and Investment), Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen (Interior and National Administration), Nakuru Governor Hon. Susan Kihika, Principal Secretaries Prof. Julius Bitok (Basic Education), and Hon. Nixon Korir (Lands and Physical Planning), among other national and county government officials.
