President Ruto Launches Major Road Upgrade to Boost Connectivity in Busia County

H.E. President William Samoei Ruto today presided over the launch of the construction of the 22km Matayos–Nangina and Nangina–Sio Port–Mumbaka roads, a transformative infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity and unlocking the region’s economic potential.

The KSh 773 million project, being implemented under the supervision of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA), is expected to significantly improve the movement of goods and people, facilitate trade, and enhance access to essential services within Busia County and its environs. The upgrade will particularly benefit local farmers and businesses by providing a more reliable and efficient transport network.

Speaking in Bungoma County, the President stated that the Government remains committed to accelerating infrastructure development as a key driver of socio-economic growth and regional integration.

The event was attended by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetangula, Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, KeRRA Director General Eng. Jackson Magondu, alongside other national and local leaders.
